  • Not much is known about this family, other than that the parents and children immigrated from Bedfordshire and settled in Oakland Co., Michigan in 1852. A second family, also from Bedfordshire, settled in Macomb Co., Michigan sometime after 1840, and mostly remain there to this day. It is not currently known if the two families are related. It is known that there were at least 2 unrelated P-rr-tt families in Bedfordshire at the time.

    Finally, one of the early American Parrott families also came from Bedfordshire a couple of centuries earlier, but there is no way of knowing if they are the same family without a Y-DNA test.

    Arrived 1852. Before that, was jailed in England in 1847 for night poaching.

    James Shreeves has born in Cardigan County Bedford England, March 16, 1853 and imigrated to the United States in the spring of 1871, establishing his home at Detroit, Mich.

    There he lived until he came to Dunlap, Ia., in the spring of 1875. He was married at Mt. Clements, Mich., Feb. 12 1880, to Miss Elenore Parrott, who was born at Mt. Clements, Mich., Oct. 11, 1853.

    On the 6th day of March of the same year the young couple came to Dunlap, Ia., and setttled the farm south of Dunlap. Here they pioneered through many years of hardship and raised their family of six children: Fred, Myron, Joe, Jesse, Anna, and Millie. They saw the community develop and delighted in talking to friends and family about their experiences of the early days.

    Besides the home place south of town, Mr. Shreeves owned the farm east of twon which is now the Earl Weber home. He also owned the farm near Missouri Valley where Myron's family lived.

    Their grandchildren living in Dunlap today are James and Howard Fitzgerald, Sally Glassburner and Mary Harden.

    Pontiac, Sept. 2. - Shot through the heart Wednesday by a bullet from an old revolver he and a friend were cleaning, Ellery Parrott, 15, of Troy, died a few minutes later. Ellery and Jack Goodwin had been tinkering with the gun during the afternoon. It had been taken apart and reassembled before the shooting according to statements made when the shooting occurred. The boy is survived by the father, Walter Parrott, a sister and brother.

    Surviving are three daughters, Frances (Joe) Bates of Adams, TN, Janice (Robert) Knight of Croswell and Vera (Jim) Frost of Leonard; four sons, William J. II (Marcia) of Burton, TX, Robert D. (Lynda) of Holland, Charles (Joyce) of Chesterfield, MO and Maurice (Frances) of Leesburg, FL; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Ruth of DuBois, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence; five sisters; and four brothers.

    Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Parrott will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Crosswell. The Rev. Donald Dueweke will officiate. Burial will be in Metamora Cemetery.

    Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Pomeroy Funeral Home, Croswell. A Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. today.

    Harriett Parrott Ritchie, aged 93, resident of Sudbury passed peacefully on March 16, 2017 at Rivercrest Nursing Home after a decades long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was the beloved wife for 65 years of the late Kenneth Lamson Ritchie who died in 2010.

    She was born on March 27, 1924 in Kansas City, MO as her parents drove to California in search of work but later grew up in Warren, Michigan. She attended Wayne State University where she studied commercial (fashion) illustration.

    Harriett met her husband, Kenneth Lamson Ritchie, at the Warren Post Office where she worked and he picked up his mail from his family in Pittsfield, MA.

    A resident of Sudbury since 1950, Harriett continued her artistic endeavors early on through the Sudbury Art Association in the company of other painters, Helen Flynn, Janet Hand and Loring Coleman. She was very involved in Sudbury Girl Scouting both as a leader and member of the Board for Bay Path Colonial Council and she wrote a history of Sudbury Girl Scouting. In the company of friends Dorothy Fredey (proprietor of Post Rd Studios opposite the Kaffestuga) and Eleanor Goulding Greenawalt, she painted elaborate tole trays using gold leaf. She was a docent at the Codman House in Lincoln for many years, proudly sporting carefully curated Victorian dresses and hats. More recently she was a docent at Sudbury's Hosmer House, a member of the Sudbury Historical Commission and Sudbury Historical Society. She designed of many of the Hosmer House cup plates for the Commission. Harriett found great joy in her perennial gardens and enjoyed painting lush florals in oil.

    Harriett is survived by her son Duncan Ritchie, daughter Rebecca Cutting and son-in-law John C. Cutting, and their children Alexander Ritchie, Carolee Van Couyghen, and Benjamin Cutting. She is also survived by her sister Jean Parrott Moeller and Jean's children, Andrea, Garre, Rick, Tim, Kathy, Lynn, Matt and Amy. Also by her niece, Kimberly DePew, eldest child of her younger brother Harley Raymond Parrott who predeceased her. Harriet is also survived by her sister-in-law Beatrice Ritchie Haartz Page and Bea's children Eric Haartz, Betz Haartz and Christopher Haartz.

    Memorial Service will be held in the spring.

Born March 3, 1927, in Pontiac, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Enos and Blanche (Knapp) Steiner. On August 17, 1946, she married Lawrence H. Parrott in Romeo, Michigan. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1998.

    Ruth graduated from Romeo High School. She was a homemaker. Ruth was a member of Lakeside Methodist Church where she was active in the women's Lakeside Bible study. She was a volunteer at the hospital on Maple Avenue, a seamstress, and a lover of books.

    Ruth is survived by four children, Lauri Lint, Erie, PA, Jayne (Gary) Magee, DuBois, David (Leslie) Parrott, DuBois, and Mark (Beverly) Parrott, Fairbanks, Alaska, 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Ellyn Anto, brother, Jim Steiner, and sister, Betty McCutcheon.

    All services are private and under the direction of the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium. Memorial donations may be made in Ruth's name to the Lakeside Methodist Church, 420 1st St., DuBois or the DuBois Food Pantry.

She had worked as a materials manager for J.J. Moore Sales. She loved painting, movies and spending time with her children at the Lake. In addition to her mother she is survived by a daughter Adrienne Anto; a son Jess Anto, both of Erie; two sisters Lauri Lint of Erie, Jayne Magee and her husband Gary of Mentor, Ohio; two brothers, David Parrott and his wife Leslie of Dubois, Mark Parrott and his wife Beverly of Fairbanks, Alaska.     21. Harley Raymond Parrott (Raymond George3, Frederick George2, Abraham1) was born in 1928 in Michigan and died on 3 Mar 1965 in Wayne Co., Michigan, at age 37.

    Harley married Ilene Marie Brown. Ilene was born on 20 Jan 1930 in Warren, Macomb Co., Michigan and died on 21 Oct 2015 in Sierra Vista, Cochise Co., Arizona, at age 85.

    Notes: Ilene Marie King has joined her husband, George; her daughter, Lee Marie; two brothers, Harold and Raymond Brown; dear friend, Tony Vohs; and her first husband, Harley Parrott already resting in God's presence.

    Ilene Brown was born to Dorothy (Geisler) and William Brown in Warren, Michigan. She grew up working in the family farming community.

    Ilene married Harley and became housewife and mother to three children, Kimberly, Lee, and Kirk. They lived in Utica, Michigan. Harley died in 1965.

    Ilene found love again with George William King. They moved to the Southwest to build a new life. Ilene and George were blessed with a daughter, Alice. Together they built K/R Ranch Supply and then Mustang Corners. Mustang Corners became popular with local ropers. A businesswoman at heart, Ilene organized, announced, and paid out the winnings at roping events, all the while keeping the store and gas station going.

    Ilene leaves her children, Kirk King, Alice King, and Kimberly DePew and their families to carry on. Ilene's grandchildren, Rylee, Lorraine, Mackenzie, Paige, and Peyton Ortiz, Shanna Herrera, and Andy and Alise Depew; and a great-grandson, Ezequiel Herrera, will miss her presence in their lives. Ilene's niece, Debora Ettinger of Sierra Vista; and her best friend, Rose Vohs of Utica, Michigan, will also miss her.

    Ilene was a lifelong devoted Catholic. She served on the Ladies Altar Society in Michigan and the finance committee at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Sierra Vista. George and Ilene were proud to be among the founders of Good Shepherd Mission Church in Whetstone, Ariz.

    Please honor Ilene by reciting a rosary and attending her funeral Mass of Christian Burial at St. Andrew's Church on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. Rosary will begin at 11:30, Mass at 12:05. Interment will follow at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

    Notes: Kirk H. P. King, 54, of Hereford, AZ, passed away at home on December 26, 2015. Kirk was born on May 18, 1961 in Pontiac, Michigan to Harley and Ilene Parrott. His father Harley passed away when Kirk was young. His mother Ilene remarried George W. King, giving Kirk a wonderful and loving father. The family moved to Sierra Vista in 1970, where he attended elementary, middle school and graduated from Buena in 1978. He then went on to the UofA becoming a Wildcat in Tucson. He worked construction until taking a body shop position with Culiver Motors in 1986, where he stayed until 1992 to take a Claims Representative position at Farmers Insurance working until his passing.

    Kirk loved the Sierra Vista area and over the years had many acquaintances that developed into long lasting friendships. He resided in Hereford at "the Wanna B Ranch" with his lovely wife of 27 years, Kim Renee King, where the enjoyed their Horses, dogs, cats, rooster "Red" and the pig OB.

    He is survived by his wife, Kim; sisters, Kimberly and Alice. Sister-in-law Denye. Nieces and Nephews; Shana, Andrew, Alise, Kiera, Rylee, Lorraine, Mackenzie, Paige and Peyton. Great Nephew Ukiah and Zeke.

    He is preceded in death by his mother, Ilene; sister, Lee Marie and George King.
